Angel Perfume

Angel was the first perfume introduced by Thierry Mugler. Its fragrance is reminiscent of Mugler’s childhood: innocent, playful and dreamy. Designed by perfumers Olivier Cresp and Yves de Chirin, its top notes burst with a lush blend of melon, coconut, mandarin orange, cassia, jasmine, bergamot and cotton candy; middle notes are composed of rich honey, apricot, blackberry, plum, orchid, peach, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, red berries and rose; base notes are made of bold scents of Tonka bean, amber and vanilla, patchouli, musk, dark chocolate and caramel.

“Angel, which launched a new fragrance category called the “oriental gourmands,” seduces us with angelic flavors found deep within the heart of our memories, as well as sensual and passionate notes.” (Sephora)

The fragrance starts off with an overwhelming dose of sweet smelling combination of chocolate, vanilla and honey. Its dry down transforms into musky and clean feel. The patchouli component gives off a distinct aroma. Some people love it yet some find it offensively overpowering.  A tad heavy at first smell, customers’ reviews sum it up with one suggestion: use it sparingly. One spritz is enough as the fragrance will melt on your skin.

Based on the mixed reviews from Angel users, the fragrance reacts differently from one person to another.  A wealth of emotions permeates with every whiff of Angel: either you love it and crave for more or hate it and not bother with scent ever again. Each perfume concoction bears Thierry Mugler’s penchant for celestial creativity.

One Angel user quipped:

“Angel is one of those perfumes that enjoy a distinct status. You could spot a person wearing angel in a crowd. It’s a perfume that you would like or hate and be warned you need to be confident to wear this.
It isn’t a sweet perfume as quite a few people describe .Albeit it opens with a cotton candy note and you could also smell berries and a negligible hint of rose ensconced in chocolate and vanilla. It is strong, lasting and would be wise to be used in small measures as some people report headaches.”

The Thierry Mugler label used to be one of the recognized haute couture in the fashion circle. The business closed down its couture division in 2003 and focused on its fragrance division. Now, Thierry Mugler is best known for its signature fragrance, Angel perfume.

No other scent has ever made me feel so feminine or sensual… Both men and women comment on how wonderful it smells, and when they ask what it is… I just smile and tell them it is the scent of angels. Angel is my secret! :) )
