Prada Infusion d’Iris & Prada Infusion d’Fleur d’Oranger
September 10, 2009
Prada created a highly likeable perfume by melding iris with elegant floral notes and deep musk accords. Prada Infusion d’Iris is a clean, subtle fragrance in which over time, smoothly transforms into a lovely powdery scent. Some say that it smells like an expensive soap in the long.

In the perfumery, iris is a key ingredient in most feminine fragrances. It makes you wonder, what’s unique about this fragrance? Is it just another unacknowledged spin-off of other iris-based scents? Looking at the notes, iris, of course, is the main element. The opening is composed of citrus blossoms and galbanum, hence, the bright and lemony greetings at the top notes. Slowly, it introduces iris with the rest of the notes. Vetiver, cedar, incense and benzoin decorate the background and caps it off with an elegant matte finish. The dry down forms a cool and somewhat earthy aroma. The softness clings in a discreet fashion.
Two years forward, Prada concocted yet another Infusion, but this time it’s orange blossoms in lieu of iris. There are only three flowers that make up this fragrance – orange blossom, jasmine and tuberose. The notes look simplistic but people who have road tested Prada Infusion de Fleur D’Oranger, find it a tad complex. How ironic, isn’t it?

Given the notes, expect plenty of sharp citrus notes at top. Its tangy sweetness reveals a potent, vibrant scent. You’ll pick up fresh and crisp notes as it melts on your skin over time. Just like Infusion d’Iris, D’Oranger is likewise suited for daytime. The lightness and subtlety of Prada’s Infusion scents wouldn’t make a grand entrance for evening affairs. So, it’s more appropriate to wear these perfumes on warm, arid days.
